It is in the observation of nature that the art of Julia Sorrell is based, whether it be a large twisted tree stump, a dried contorted leaf, the angularity of crystalline rock, or the flowing of a shell. |

All of this can be abstracted from its context, and meticulously transformed into a new visionary entity. A powerful poetic form of emotional intensity has been created where the logic of associations is of secondary importance. The usual appearance of our natural world is transformed into a harmonious whole which is very personal to her and outside contemporary conventions. |
